If you love the NFL, especially the Buffalo Bills and Madden, you are not easily offended, and enjoy a little comedy with your football news, then you’re in the right place!

The DFL…

While most people realize the “FL” stands for “Football League,” many inquiries have been made about the “D.” The most frequent guesses I’ve heard include:

• Dysfunctional

• Demented

• Dumb

While there might be cases to make for each of those, the truth is it stands for “Drunken.” However, don’t let that steer your opinion awry, we are also dumb.

The Dysfunctional History:

Approximately 25 years ago, as the world prepared for Y2K, a recently separated father (Tommy), his teenage son (Bill), and Bill’s childhood best friend (Chuck) turned their attention away from the hysteria and placed it deep into video game football… and getting drunk.

What started as some friendly competition on a Sega Dreamcast evolved into a full fledged, dynamic, and truly avant-garde Madden tournament league like no other. Together, the three associates drank a lot of booze, drafted eight teams each, and then drew up a league schedule (5 games per team) complete with its own 8 divisions, playoffs, and championship that — sometime around the Michael Vick era — became known as the Dawg Bowl! The spoils include $100, a small plastic mail-ordered trophy, and most importantly, our much coveted Buffalo Bills for the following season!

This has led to a lot of controversy, friction, and devastated feelings over the years.

Nevertheless, the DFL rages on as strong as ever! And now, the league has finally taken the next steps in its evolution, morphing itself into a double-headed monster; this new face in the form of a podcast!

Here, Bill Mullane of The Bill Mullane Show and DFL cofounder Chucky “Calzone” put down the controllers to discuss not only the state of the NFL, the Bills, and Madden but also life, family, music, film, and all the BS in between.

Bill and Chuck are regularly joined by senior DFL cofounder Doubting Thomas, as well as sideline reporter/team doctor and one-half of A Brothers’ Macabre, Dr. Matthew.

The Evolving Present:

New episodes of The DFL Podcast are released every Monday afternoon during the regular NFL season, playoffs, and beyond! When the Bills play on Thursday and Monday nights, you can expect mini “on-the-spot pods” reacting to the game.

You know what? There’s mini pods before games sometimes too and basically whenever we feel like dropping one because that’s who we are so why not?
